Trust 10k Trail Race – 24-02-2019

Race Report by Rebecca Wright

Sunday 24th February saw the fourth Trust 10k Trail Race – a free monthly 10k trail run around the grounds of Ormesby Hall, Middlesbrough, hosted by the National Trust and marshalled by volunteers. This event is held on the fourth Sunday of the month and is gaining in popularity, with a number of BMHH members who are already regulars.

The route consists of two laps, following tracks and trails through woodland, parklands and fields, with a “lovely” hill that leads to a great view of Teesside. It’s ran on a mix of gravel, tarmac and mud (apparently lots of it sometimes) and has a really friendly atmosphere. And of course, the tea rooms are open for spectators or for post-race tea and cake.

BMHH was represented well this month, with five runners – Sarah Short, Becky Wright, Melinda West, Geraldine Boutell and Sandra Main, plus our three fabulous marshals – Allison Rae, Dotty Harris and Julie Tweedy. Although a bit cold and foggy to begin with, it turned into a beautiful sunny morning, with most people de-layering down to t-shirts and vests.

If you fancy running this trail event in the future, registration takes place on the day at 8:30am within the tearooms. You then keep hold of your race number for the next time you want to run.
